On the Contrary,

Uhh, if you've ever wondered what I look like holding a wolfskin pelt wearing a leopard print dress in a gypsy-themed bedroom, here it is. And yes, that is Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume- I've had it for years and still love the over-the-top flower bouquet cap.

Tomikitten has gotten a lot bigger recently. He's starting to look a bit less like a tiny thing with blue eyes and huge ears. He cries for me less, though he still sleeps either on my head or under it, like a hat or a neck pillow. And he's starting to exhibit behaviors more resembling of a cat rather than a weirdo. Oh, also, he doesn't understand showers and howls when I take one-- I presume the idea is horrifying to him.

Glitter and Miracles

This was a nice weekend. Went to a hard electronic show that one of my best childhood friends was DJing. And then, on a whim, took a day trip out to the beach for some nice walks and seafood. I guess it's nice having Valentine's weekend be an excuse for doing something completely random, though I've never really cared for celebrating it ever. I want to be at the beach again soon. Next time, need more clothes and more white wine. I was completely sure it wouldn't be so cold near the water. I was wrong.

I'm rather fond of leather jackets. I own a total of 3 and every time I see another one I have to make up an excuse as to why I shouldn't buy it. The past year I've been doing shwazers, which is basically sweater+blazer, a term my friend coined. And I fell in love with the off-lavender long maxi cardigan at a thrift store. Long jackets are just something I gravitate towards, same way I am with boots. Though that one is starting to get a bit ridiculous.

Le Voyage de Penelope

I'm always a bit weary about shooting in dim lighting, especially with mixed feelings about grain. But I thought what the hell, why not, so I went for it anyway. Had dinner with my parents at a nice Italian restaurant. I love the 40s, 50s feel of the place- music, ambience, decor, and all. I hope this doesn't look like a food blog now, I hate food blogs.

We are Golden

Spent Saturday afternoon apartment hunting with the bf, ended up torn between love for antique doorknobs and spiral staircases, or a fenced backyard. I think they backyard + washer/dryer hookup won us over in the end. I guess I'll never know what it's like to live in a historic house with a vintage showerhead and skeleton keys. But at least picnics will be easier now? And we'll only be 10 minutes apart, which makes up for lost time in the long run. But maybe I'll set up a tent in his backyard and camp out, ha.

These were shot in a neighborhood while waiting for a realtor to show up. The entire afternoon felt like such a time crunch, between getting all my things in order, the search, and dinner with my parents. Whole weekend was filled with adventures, actually. It didn't snow after all, so my parents dragged us to all their events/dinners. Which, by the way, Happy Lunar New Year to everyone out there who celebrates. I'm actually probably too old to be receiving red envelopes anymore, but hey I'm not complaining.

So knock me down, tear me up- But I would bear it all broken, just to fill my cup

Some shots of inanimate objects I managed to take while staying at my parents' house. It's kind of interesting trying to capture something lifeless in an interesting and capturing way. Like the assortment of cute but creepy old alarm clocks all over the second story. I swear, the dog clock actually screams "Good morning, I love you!" to wake you up in a very creepy high-pitched child's voice. Thank god most of those batteries are dead.

I actually missed taking shots of my mom's cool miniature ship collection, as well as the array of pretty crystal things in the glass showcase. But my contacts just managed to shank the hell out of my right eye and I don't have glasses, so this post has already been hard enough. Oh, misfortune!

It's supposed to snow tomorrow in Houston, and I hate to repeat what I believe to be lies and exaggeration, but weather reports predict up to 3 inches of snow. Which really means anything from <1 inch to 2.99 inch. Or that flurrying shit they like to call snow but kind of isn't because it melts before it touches the ground. Anyhow, the streets be dangerous, so best to stay off em, mate! Especially with the hordes of Texans who can't drive worth a damn in rain, let alone ice/snow.

xx.
