Hollywood

The Hollywood sign from atop the Griffith Observatory, which is fantastic by the way. It's a functioning observatory and serves a dual role as an astronomy and science museum.

And of course I needed a photo with one of the greatest yet almost unknown names in history, and the electric Jesus who revolutionized the 1900's. Nikola Tesla. Excuse me while my nerd fandom blows over. And yes, that is a Tesla coil.

Fireworks over the Disneyland Castle

Obviously you don't need to see my 100+ photos combined on phone plus camera of fireworks over the castle, but I thought I'd share one just so you could enjoy. Here you go.

Disneyland Park, Anaheim CA

Boy in a slice of his hometown.

If you've never had it, oh my god frozen applejuice.

FROZEN APPLE JUICE SO GOOD.

Best ride ever.

The most magical place on Earth, and they really do it right. Every ride and detail is perfect, and they go all out every night with the fireworks over the castle. Because they're Disney, right? I hadn't been back since I was a kid, and it's so magical to go to the Haunted Manson again, ride all my favorite childhood memory rides.

I don't think anyone spins the teacups as hard as we did. The wheel they give you in the center of your cup is a death trap-- you forget you're actually INSIDE the teacup and how hard you spin it will be how hard it spins YOU. Our heads were spinning for hours afterward, even as we went through the Alice in Wonderland ride.

Navigating the park was interesting too, with the parades with the Disney princesses and traditional Mickey Mouse & friends characters every couple of hours. Can't wait to visit the Disney World Park in Orlando, along with the Universal Studios next year or so.

eaton canyon day trip

Growing up in a completely flat environment entirely at sea level has made me a sucker for elevation. I don't care if you can't build houses, or if roads need tunnels just to get through a large hill that us Texans like to call mountains... elevation is awesome.

Bf gets a little more face time in this post, since he usually takes my photos and is super awesome and superb for doing so. Also take notice of how much more increasingly tired we look as the day progresses. We did a smart thing leaving water bottles at the hotel (but we brought sunscreen, check!) and there were no clouds in the sky while we hiked a CANYON. What the sign told us (it lied!) of a 2.5 mile trail ended up being closer to 8, and that's just one-way. I just tried to live vicariously through the little streams we had to cross, in hopes that by looking at water I could feel more water.

We both had heat exhaustion on the last day coming home, go figure. Lesson learned. PS- the waterfall at the end of the trail (like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow) wasn't even that impressive. This is coming from a girl who knows a real waterfall when she sees one. Still quite the experience and a lot of fun.
